If walls could talk, they’d say “thank you” to Assemblage founders Heidi and Christian Batteau for the artisanal wallcoverings, crafted in the Ozarks that now find their way home to chic residences, restaurants and boutiques across the country.
The company’s beginning is a familiar story in the industry — owners with fine arts degrees, stints in the New York design scene, big-name clients and a desire to seek something more. In 2011, the Batteaus sought their own path, heading back to Heidi’s home, a corner of northwest Arkansas. From there they have pursued their dream of providing an authentic luxury product while creating a rural mecca for craftsmanship and sustainable living, for both themselves and employees.
